Light At Tunnel's End
He saw a blurry, little light
At the distant tunnel’s end:
A dream or a reality in sight?
Stay or go on? He demanded.
The lonely trip, led up a story;
His antique car broke down;
The benighted road was empty;
The handicap glanced around.
In the silence he used his cane,
Settled up to seek resolution;
Dragged the unfit leg in lane;
Any trail diet left for digestion.
Behind him the machine dead,
Bit by bit faded from view;
Tunnel’s light pulled him ahead,
Encouraged the brave to pursue.
