Light

I know you've been in the dark for what
Feels like forever.
You've tried to push it away,
But the thought of it lingers,
Creeping into every corner of your mind.
And it makes you wonder
Will I ever see the light again
Is it possible to feel whole when
I'm so lost in this shadow
But here's what I need you to understand:
Light is not something you find
Only when you're done suffering.
It's something you create.
It's something you reclaim,
Even when you can barely feel it in yourself.
Your mind has been telling you that you're broken,
That the darkness has won.
But let me tell you this
It is not the darkness that defines you.
It’s the spark inside that refuses to go out.
The simple fact that you are still here,
Still breathing,
Is proof that the light never left.
It’s just waiting for you to revive it again.
Healing is not an instant fix.
It's the process of trusting that tomorrow,
You will feel a little more light than you do today.
It’s waking up and deciding
Even if it's lost for a moment
That you are going to believe in something better.
It's letting your brokenness be the very thing?
That gives you the strength to reach for the light.
The light is not outside of you
It’s inside you.
In every small chance to move forward,
In every moment where you hold on.
You are the light that will lead you out,
And you will find your way
One step at a time.
