Life's Twilight

I'm begging you to change your mind, I am not just a useless rind To be tossed once goodness is gone! Why are you leaving me behind? We entered into a new dawn, I thought the future fully drawn With you happily forever, Ensconced in lover's soft chiffon. I suppose you think you're clever, Hide behind a lie, whatever, Take courage and tell me clearly What vows you intend to sever. You never could love me dearly, I was a dalliance merely To fill up your dark empty nights, Not to be taken sincerely. Years have gone without love's delight, Thoughts of you filled my heart with blight That other men could not dispel, I curse you now from life's twilight!
