Life's True Meaning

HUNGER

Energy draining from me
like water washing thoughts
down the sidewalk.
The never, never world
of Alice in Wonderland
seemed real.
I stepped into the restaurant
like an ant about to lose the battle.
But after eating, I smiled
and forgot.
Life's true meaning
can only be appreciated
when your stomach is full.
