Life's Secrets

My life has been a joy and a success
There are plain reasons for my happiness

I discovered two truths when I was young
I was twenty, my songs yet to be sung

As I was sure these truths would set life's tone
I would call them secrets and mine alone

The two secrets covered money and love
And what else is there when push comes to shove?

As I put these truths to practice each day
Weeks turned to years and always turned my way

Many times I have loved and never lost
And I have bought without worry of cost

I would share my secrets madam and sir
But I'm old and don't recall what they were
