Life's Pendulum
The pendulum swings...swings...
two extremes...
swinging high.....
swinging low....
extreme joy
and then sorrow....
swinging swinging...
never still....
bursts of light
then darkness fills....
swinging swinging...
two extremes...
Sweetest love
then hatred seems
swinging swinging...
two extremes...
When all I ever want
It seems...
Is that happy middle ground…
Not the morbid swinging sound...
Where there aren't two extremes…
And everything restful seems…
Where there's only my heartbeat..
And that melody is sweet...
beating beating....
no extremes...
beating beating...
evenly....
beating beating....
endlessly...
not too fast...
not too slow...
beating beating...
tranquilly
beating, oh, so steadily…
