Life's Lessons
When you live long enough
You learn the hard way
The only person loyal
Is the one in the glass
Reflection
You see each day
People there but all alone
It's all about what you do
They can ask for your last
But only God will stay true
A billion never phased me
Can't miss what you don't have
So you can wake up and chase it for a t-shirt
While others sit back point and laugh
Days turn into nights
Thinking about the strides
Waking up to ask for forgiveness
When you are wrong
It seems then God hides
Nobody to care
You stop to give your all
Others spectating
Waiting for the day you fall
These are life's lessons
What I know one day I will leave
Teach my daughter life ain't perfect
In yourself
You believe
Don't take life too serious, have fun, and pray
Your mama was soldier
Who made it her own way
Chasing a dream in a country
That may never really exist
Go to school fall in love make it
Wake up in perfections arms with a kiss
Hurt and yet wounded
Never one miss
All the years all the pain
Right in my face
Sleep with your eyes half open
Because they want you to catch a case
Daddy said love others
But where does it end
Remembering days working three jobs
Just to make a meal and make ends
Nobody there but iyou and the good lord
But the creator showing you snakes
So you try to stay on guard
These are life's lessons
Take it back oh no God
blesses You all for free
Praying to God for help
When one day I know I'll receive
No point in looking back
Nothing but ashes and grief
If I cut my heart to the last
Then maybe it's relief
So I strive and push harder
Now it's silently
Waiting to guess a next move
Nonchalant I don't see
Only to know life's lessons
Then it's on me
