Like a giant clock, each of our lives is ticking, ticking, and ticking away - from the first hour that we set foot on the road to our final destination. Our life’s morning is beloved childhood and youth. We can’t know what lies beyond our road’s horizon as we make our way into the afternoon of our life. Like a vast desert lies the future far ahead Alas! A few already in the morning’s sun have perished, as will others before the late afternoon. Many reach their end as sun dips behind mountains. Twilight years can be glowing or they can be dark. Even those who see midnight find life’s journey goes quickly. Andrea, how fitting this is for the image you selected. You met the challenge of 5's and 7's well with a poetic vision of life as a day's passage. Nice to see your grammatically correct "each of our lives is ticking" (instead of "are ticking"). Beautiful, thoughtful, evocative piece with a wistful nod to those who are gone too soon. Congrats on your placement in Brian's contest ~ John

And some lives evenings are spent in mourning. As time keeps ticking as some are adjourning. To where we go when time stands still. As the clock still ticks until God's will. :) You know me Andrea, I'm just usually inspired by others poetry to just interject a bit of my own. <3 :) Awesome poem btw, yours, not mine. :)

Hi Andrea, from the moment we are born we die a day at a time as the clock ticks its way to our end, some sadly sooner, than later. Great write - best of luck, Hugs, Jennifer.

A beautiful write! So fast the clock ticks, though hours seem to go slow they fly with wings unseen until we see many loved ones lifting off. A lovely write that should find a win!
