Life's Highway
As I travel across life’s great divide,
Full of mixed emotions and fears that are hard to hide.
I stand and marvel at how small we are in the scheme of things,
And the different scenarios and wonders this life it brings.
And the further into life we journey we have to admit,
It’s the simple things that bring us pleasure like holding a child when we sit.
Like playing with a puppy a game of fetch,
Or watching a kitten chase a piece of string in hopes he can catch.
Or a warm fire on a wintry day,
Watching our children as they run and play.
These are simple blessings to guide us along,
To keep our hearts pure and our bodies and minds strong.
These simple gifts are gifts of love from our Father above,
Like old Noah, God sent him a sign on the wings of that dove.
Life is full of crossroads so be careful the choice,
Let your conscience and heart be your voice.
If there is any hesitation don’t take that turn,
It could be the old devil deceiving you in hopes you’ll burn.
If you know the Word you should be okay,
But just in case it doesn’t hurt to stop and pray.
