Life's Charade

Intelligence means nothing in life’s charade
Where the heart leads the head, brings upon it shame

And the tongue is loose, wild and riotous
Hands and feet quick to run to and fro with violence

Eyes desire to witness evils that the devil would be impressed
Lips speaking lies flagrantly, though they swear hand on breast

Intelligence means nothing in this life’s charade
For it is wisdom we need as a player for this game

Congratulations on having your well-written poem featured this week. Life games are only in the mind. And it is wisdom that leads to appreciation of God's gift of free choice. Very interesting poem. Keep those words flowing. Big Smile, Dane Ann

As the Serenity Prayer says ... "the Wisdom to know the difference" (between what I can change and what I can't) but one of the more intelligent things I've done is come to PoetrySoup... LOL ... I love this write, Samantha. I don't think I've "met" you yet as I've been away from the Soup for awhile, but I'm glad to see you have joined us !!
