"Grandma ain't getting young But we thank God for the year's He's given her But when I look into her eyes I see how she keeps praying for her grandchildren To each be settled in good families so that she lives on" I was named after my grandpa, and he left me my grandma And we've shared a special bond right from birth That's why when I'd be back at home When everyone was given chores, I was pulled closer to my grandma And she'd tell me of the great thing she sees in me And as I kept growing, age also caught up with her The energy she had to stay long talking through the day This days she sleeps alot, dozing off at times when we telling stories And she's happy when she sees all of us for Christmas Saying the best gift she could ever ask is all of us here But this days she's been talking more of putting roots Cause she's afraid that we can fly far from the nest And she'll be all alone without anyone She says she's never lonely cause she has a big family And she'd want also that of us That's why when the birds have been flying back home We come back with more and more twigs Building more nests on the homestead And she's hopeful that soon the nest will have more birds And the sounds from each nest will be something she eagerly wakes up to And I don't want just anyone I want someone prayerful like my grandma Cause its with prayer that our family has stood the test And it's through her wise counsel that you see me also write Cause life is flame, and the more flames we put on, the brighter the future is The PO£T
