Life Not a Contest

Your contest I don't want to be in my friend
You want our lives to be a forever contest
Your best friend you always say that I am
Do you always need to be one up on me

I get something new and tomorrow you have it too
I get an illness and you have it or had it only worse
I say I love something and you always loved it first
I want to be me and you be you, as life isn't a contest
to me.

This is so true. Even sisters sometimes want to be like us so much that they compete like this too. Great point and you made it. Well said. Huggs TLee

This one caught my fancy Carol. We all know people who feel so incredibly inadequate that their ego boost has to come from denegrating others. Native Americans have a tradition of being quiet and smoking a peace pipe after dinner with friends while talking "foolishness" is considered an insult. Silence, in other words, is golden in their view and I tend to agree with their wisdom. We should all listen more and talk less. Thanks for posting & God Bless. Terry

Very well explained, madame. I hope you win this contest. On a separate note though, at times the people who behave in this manner, they do it may be to make us feel better. Thank you for visiting my work, and for your very kind comments too, madame.

Hi Carol - Well said. A lot of that goes on, and am not sure why. Maybe the other person sees the grass on your side of the fence as always being greener no matter what the circumstances. (Thanks for your supportive comments of my poetry.) - Gail
