Life Is So Cruel
I met you yesterday by chance
You introduced me to your new lover
How I contorted my lips into a smile
It felt like such a painful grimace
O it was a mighty effort
I half wondered if it fooled anyone
How I maintained that fake smile
To hide the tears inside
There it was so outstretched
I remember calling on muscles
To pry these lips apart
How I mustered to utter words
I’ll never understand
‘It’s nice to meet you’
As I held my head high
I couldn’t wait for the moment
We could collapse
Me and my lie
