Life Is A Book

Our lives are like books
with a predetermined number of pages,
each day is a page that chronicles our activities.
Some books are lengthy while others appear as articles,
Quickly read and gone.
Still others, are aborted, before printing.
A book review reveals pages assigned to unimportant things,
just filler, it seems, in review.
As we thumb toward the last chapter
we relive numerous yellowed pages,
finding few meaningful enough to have been dog eared.
Only then do we realize that
highlighted words have become our song that nobody hears,
from books that people no longer read.
