Life Emeritus

Emeritus in days,
Find hope in such little things
that collected
dropped in your lap
through a lifetime
but special still,
all gifts.

Wholly invested in a life,
in love
though they left before
you made the first payment.

In days of learning you finished well
the life you left behind
in you I found so kind..
a swish of tassel just for you.

No more struggle, no debt unpaid
only a few flowers to be laid..
Life emeritus.

When you finish in war,
trying to even up the score..
decide the merits of fighting
and just what it was for.

Value whatever you have with gratitude. Choose whether a fight is morally worth fighting. I like this poem. Well done! :)

I really like the last stanza. Yes, in life we need to know if we need to fight and is it worth fighting for. I enjoyed reading this one. I hold no titles only wife and mother, so I don't have to worry about ever retiring completely from those positions. Thank you for your visit to my page. Sara K
