Life Between Two Worlds

when I burn
when I bleed
when life takes its toll
the mountains stretch
a barrier between two worlds
the night here is dark
the light here is harsh
I yearn for the cool breeze
of the pleasant lands I seldom see
the place beneath your eyes
and in our hearts
on occasions that are not these
and when I return to that place of mind
when again I am whole
I will forget my other life
where I burn
where I bleed
where life takes its toll
