Life and Death

It was to be expected at some point
but when death comes it is still a shock
we wish that person could live forever
that we do not have to say goodbye
once they are gone we wish again
wish we could talk to them
wish we could still get advice
still have them in our life
but life carries on
one by one we lose people
as we age the more loss we see
one day it will you or will be me
we never know the day or hour
we only know that death comes
so live each day to the fullest
fill it with love and kindness
make the most of each day.

Dear Phyllis, I loved your poem and I was looking for a way to tell you my mother has died. And there was your poem about death and also about life and moving on. What I learned about my mothers life and mine was glorious.

It has been a year of many losses and I guess many starting to pass as we age. I just had to update poetry soup somehow when it went down this last time I was getting no notices. love phyl
