Lies and Goodbyes

LIES AND GOODBYES

I promised you then
And I’ll promise you again
Never again shall I make you cry
But remember what I say will be a lie

I won’t go into the den of iniquity
And I state that with due ambiguity
Baby heed my words as if they were gold
I am one messed up man, machine and a mold

I’ve been formed of fired and fiery clay
And I told you to listen to what I say
There are places I should not place myself in
And babe, I’m telling you, there is no greater sin

As I did then I will do right now
And you can take this as a solemn vow
Don’t ask me queries about prayer and hope
Simply remember I lied when I swore to never shoot dope
