Notes About The Poem

Lies

Why has lying become a major part of our speech?
These lies cannot be washed away with bleach.
It appears that no one really cares when someone lies.
We have become numb to these, so part of us dies.

The number of those who lie has fallen beyond our reach.
Have we forgotten the significance of freedom of speech.
Those who think they are lying because for a valid reason.
They have been telling lies for longer than any season.

How do you explain these things and not preach?.
It has become difficult to find someone to teach.
I am unsure of how to stop this lying like a reflux.
Our speech is a tragedy that really does suck.

An interesting topic and poem, ed. I think there is actually a need sometimes for "white" lies, as we call them, but yes, generally honesty is THE best policy!
