Lie On Lie Beguiles the Truth

The truth stood downcast in the lie. Ostracized stranger in line-up Of liers wearing 'Who Me' masks To hide behind their stone-face guilt. Eye's up, stand proud, forsaken as The truth stood downcast in the lie With story stranger than fiction Backed up with watertight alibi. He went there to help friend distressed By a tragic lover's rift, but The truth stood downcast in the lie As he saw knife on floor, grabbed it. Knife cleaned and dropped, he rushed away, Friend lied to provide alibi, But witness tap in line-up proved, The truth stood downcast in the lie.

Sounds like a suspenseful ballad. Superbly done, John.

Flies for this Kiwi. Flows naturally. Think I will put it on my Pavlova. Well done mate. Must be the southern air. Crisp and clean. Understand there is spot in Australia that has the world's purest air. Regards David from across the ditch.

Or are you just beguiling your audience? Many layers to this write. Now that's a minds find.

Beguiles a word well chosen. This poem leaves you questioning who is the beguiling one. Or is it both. The lie or the truth. Or the lie and the truth. I love the twisting in this write.
