Liberated Heart

and i was the one who bore the dread of saying goodbye- the woman who eased my own heart and shattered yours with those five shocking words… “i don’t love you anymore.” i was bound to free you from me eventually- you were bound to love me as long as you possibly could. and into the ebon night i erased our stars just as they were aligning into orion’s constellation. the loss of you bestowed onto me intense alleviation, the loss of me broke your wings as you were ready to fly. sounds of your despair ricocheted off my liberated heart. This poem is alive with emotion and truth. So beautiful, and truthful. A difficult poem to write, I am sure.
