Letting Go of Disappointment and Expectation

Though you were supposed to be the foundations on which I would go strong
you left me twisting in the wind, waiting for you to fill that role

though I needed help in navigating the world and feeling I had worth
I sat alone waiting until the world passed me by, and learned I was nothing

and when I thought, maybe you were sorry for the way you let me down
you blamed me for being down, said that I was lazy, like I failed you

and when others propped me up, did what was yours to do
and when I succeeded and built my own foundations around me

then you think, maybe your sorry, not that you are to blame of course
just a litany of excuses, well its too late, I did waiting, you never came

I built the foundations on which I will I continue to grow strong
you can twist in the wind, your not worthy of the role
