Notes About The Poem

This ended up being about 3 million times more difficult than I ever imagined.  Very fun challenge.

Letters For Lovers

Breathtaking beauty, you wither me so,
Cruel intoxication, I can’t let go,
Drunken delusions your indiff'rence stirs,
Entices anguish and ignorant slurs;

Follow my passion t’wards romantic nights,
Glorious evenings of sinful delights,
Heal painful shame with three words spoken true,
Ignite our flame and say “I forgive you”;

Joyous excursions remembered well still
Kindle bright embers if only you will,
Loosen what’s harbored insisting we drown,
Mocking our marriage that’s turned upside down;

Now is the moment right here is the place,
Open your heart, dear, extinguish disgrace,
Pride knows no answers it only brings pain,
Quick now, my angel, trust pure-love again.

Phillip, I think you did an excellent job. Surprised you didn't make a sonnet out of it. Either way still very impressive!

I didn't realize you'd entered but now I'm gonna go eyeball yours which I'm sure is twice the poem mine is per usual. Thank You for looking and commenting!
