Letter To the Future-30 Years Old Me

I knew it that you'll keep going
That you wouldn't give up on our dreams
Hi, I'm you, and you are me
The only difference between us right now
Is that I am the dreamer
And you are the fulfiller

We've gone so far
Look at what I put on your thoughts
When you were younger
Now you've reached them all
And our parents are prouder

I am so proud I was the past you
I've heard you've been working a lot
Have a little time for yourself, grown ass woman!
You deserve that treat after all

Remember me when you were 22!
You made millions of mistakes
That parents wouldn't be proud of

Make those mistakes again!!
It's not too bad to be young again
I'm the bad guy, expect me to say that
I'm proud to be you
And I know you will always remember me

Now you're 30
It's just been 8 years!!!!!
Last thing I'll tell you
Keep the feet on the ground, no matter where you are now

Give back to parents
Make them smile
Make them happy
Love your siblings!
They're grown up just like I was!

I love you, future self.
Read this when you're 30 okay?
Promise me not to shed a tear one day!
Kidding aside,

I'll wipe your tears.
You still got me.

Life is full of mistakes and accomplishments but as long as you can look in the mirror each morning and say “nice job” your life has been successful. A nicely written verse, Christine, welcome to Poetry Soup. John
