Let's Fly

I look longingly above
At the big blue sky.
Do you think it’s possible
For me to fly?

I flap my wings
To no avail;
Everything I try
Seems to fail.

Why can’t I move,
Somehow break free?
Something’s holding me down,
Stronger than gravity.

I look around me,
And there I see
Another soul longing
To be free.

I take his hand,
Try to take flight.
But we don’t move,
Something’s not right.

Our first thought is
To turn away,
But Someone beckons,
We begin to pray.

Something happens
Right then and there;
Suddenly we feel
As light as air.

He changes our hearts,
Makes us new.
One look at Him
And off we flew.

No tether holds us down;
No limits, none.
We fly together
For, in Him, we are one.

So come fly with me
To heights unknown.
I’m lost without you,
I can’t soar alone.
