Let the Wind Blow Through
Let the Wind Blow Through
My house is built of fragile sticks
Each window opened shows a different view
Clean or with a dusty film, yet held close
A skin of remembrance hidden deep
Different footprints in the sand
The wind blows through my head
Doors left wide open
Against the morning breeze
My thoughts drift like the frigates above
Gliding across a great expanse of blue
Rocks tossed by waves
litter the sandy beach of my mind
Each a nugget of surprising wisdom
To pick up and use as needed
or a piece of waste to step around
Sometimes it's hard to know which
Before it's too late
The need to slam the doors shut
Against the tempest inside
Swirling towards dark thoughts
Or open wide my heart
And receive the gifts contained within
That brings peace and happiness
Mine to make as I walk alone or as two
I let the wind blow through to clear the air
