Let the Eagle Alone

let the eagle take the chick
for why should you throw
a stone at it-
it has not
let the natural call
down on your head....

let the eagle eat the chick...
let the stone rest on the ground
so you eat the careless chicken-
it let its child be prey...
it is the hen that has a mistake,
not the predator.....

nature has its place of worth, human must endure no dearth, for we are natures child, predator oft reviled, though bloodlust be reversed, not far away the distant wild, remains immersed... Don re: Let the eagle alone HONESTY OIMBO

Way to stand up for nature, Honesty. A most unusual poem and reminded me of one from my high school days I read . Wish I could remember it now! about the sun killing a flower (too much heat!)

Honesty, it is simply in a hawk's nature to select smaller animals for food. If you're talking about humans, however, parents do have to accept responsibility for allowing their children to be vulnerable to predators. Very intriguing poem. Love, Carolyn

That mother would be very upset though...She calls them when there is a threat and tries to hover over them to protect them..Sometimes the chicks will not listen to mother..Enjoyed your work..I am glad that I chose this one to read this morn..Sara
