Let Me Sleep

Awake I lay A busy mind Nothing of importance Just randomness running wild Like leaves spinning in the wind. Did I do this? I should do that? And what about that thing! My body's tired and wants to rest My mind keeps stirring things. I toss I turn My tension grows each hour passes by I tell my self I need to sleep It's like an argument inside My mind has things it needs to say Insisting that I hear It won't shut down It won't turn off It only rambles on. Tomorrow's here soon I won't be ready To handle what it brings There's got to be a way Some how To quiet my restless head. Tonight my pillow has the key To open up my mind When other nights it soothes my head and Cradles it in peace. But tonight it is electrified With will to search and find All the unimportant things And keep me out of sleep.

Kathy: I feel so bad for people who can't sleep. You convey the tough goings for insomniacs. Looks like you may have had some experience. Sweet dreams! Jim
