Let it rain

Let it rain, let my words spill loose from my tongue,
let every truth I’ve swallowed finally come undone.
Let the love I’ve never fled wrap me, slow and deep,
the way clouds hold their sorrow before they weep.

Hold me like pavement drinks the storm in silence,
no promises shouted, just staying, just presence.
Love me softer, say my name when skies are clear,
tell me you love me even when rain isn’t here.

Say you’ll be mine when the thunder feels loud,
when my heart caves in and I’m lost in the crowd.
Hold all my pain like the ground holds the rain,
taking the weight without asking for change.

I love you the way rain loves breaking the heat,
the way it keeps falling no matter the street.
I love you more each time our worlds collide,
every meeting is a flood I don’t want to survive.

Love me forever, love me again,
if that’s what it costs to stand where I am.
If loving me means standing soaked, unafraid,
then let it rain, let it pour, let me stay.
