Let It Go

Can you begin to relate
yes we all surely can
the past insults and hate
will eat us alive over lifes' span
let it go

Eat away hearts and souls
only hurting self then those around
Slow burn over hot coals
affecting every sight and sound
of ones' life

Constant though low key irritation
sometimes in background
others front and center but
with our participation
The past hurts we feel bound
break away

Let only happy memories flourish in hearts
smother negative with blanket of happiness
envelope all us every single part
In this truth you must trust
the past is gone
not to be a do over

Where we are today is because of the past
and must not regret any insults or hurts
do not permit these things to last
Live laugh love often
even in spurts
Life is good, accept the bad
it's up to you
