Let It Burn

I really don’t know how to say this,
But our time is at an end.
And this time it’s not another breakup,
With us remaining friends.

We can’t have any other type of relationship,
Because I don’t have faith that it could survive.
And if I tell you that it could,
Then I’ll be telling another lie.

All throughout our romance,
I have been lying to hide the truth.
But the truth is the way you feel about me,
Is not the same as I feel about you.

I know I tell you that I love you,
And I smile when you say it back.
But I have another confession for you,
I was just putting on an act.

I’m not saying that it’s always been this way,
I just believe that we have grown apart.
And the only reason I’m telling you this now,
Is because its time for me to follow my heart.

I say we can’t remain friends,
Because my feelings are going to end up hurting you,
And hurting you so deeply inside,
Is something that I don’t have the intentions to do.

After I am done saying what I have to say,
I think it’s for the best that you immediately leave.
But I just can’t sit here and take the blame,
With you saying that you are needing me.

The real reason that I’m breaking up with you,
Is because I have falling in love with another.
Therefore that is part of the reason,
Why this relationship can’t go on any further.

Baby, please don’t try to tell me…
…this is for the both of us to decide.
Believe it not I wanted to make it work,
And boy you know that I’ve tried.

For the many of nights that we were together,
I have set my emotions aside.
But were not getting any younger,
And my emotions are really tired of trying to hide.

Lastly, don’t act all innocent,
Like you really didn’t see it coming,
Because if you really didn’t know that it was going to happen,
Then you wouldn’t have been with that other woman.

I now know that my life is a point,
That for the best it should take a turn,
And for this reason, remember that I will always love you,
But I have to let this relationship burn.
