Let It Begin With Me

I remember being a Narcissist was bad form when I young Now the Head shrinkers say being completely self centered is just fine The rules suddenly changed because there is money to be made with rude TV Humiliating your fellow human being has won the day And we are a stones through away from public executions It will come with politicians Explaining to us who is good and who is bad And why the poor aren't entitled to education and food or a hand up Yet all the while the rich are entitled to million dollar subsidies of all kinds tax brakes And offshore Bank Accounts The rich for the sake of the rich have shipped our jobs over seas And tell us it's our fault for believing in the AMERICAN DREAM and old fashion honesty Then they say it is God's will that they are rich As they cherry pick verse and script from the good book and wave it like a flag I pray for peace as you know Lord and I do it Often I don't mind the silence at other times I feel closer to you that way Just now though I feel like speaking the words out loud They say we get the government We deserve It sure would be nice Lord if you put Democrats In the House and the Senate this time And we could get back to treating one another with love and respect I know Jesus said the world will not change until the hearts of men change So please lord let it begin with me. Let my heart be open and happy again And wise enough to know the family of man is my family

oo wow! Michael, your poem ends with blessing words... I'm not one who loves the look of my own reflection. However, i do pray for peace and so much.... and stay away from the false dream... enjoyed... LINDA

Michael, I could identify with every word of your poem and all each of us can do is set a better example for our youth and for those greedy who feel entitled. The American dream is not dead, just buried. Bravo!

Stand your ground Debbie and always be the one who blesses others. A psyche once ask me how I thought of myself "A person" I said.He was so disappointed I didn't say"A man" Go with what's right fo you.
