Lessons From Yesterday
"Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play"-The Beatles
YESTERDAY, was love really such an easy game to play?
I don't know if that means that love's game is harder today.
Nevertheless, that is what the words of the beautiful song say.
Some loves don't last, and yet, others endure until heads turn grey.
However, love was never a game, and it was never without pain.
YESTERDAY or today, wherever there is love, everyone gains.
But what about our love today? Is it a game? Is it easy?
Perhaps love would be easier if we were not so busy.
There's talk of a love at first sight that is real to some,
But to others, such easy love never seems to come.
Perhaps YESTERDAY, easy love was of a lesser quality.
Perhaps such times produced loves of a different variety.
Some say love comes softly and must be given time to blossom.
Love has nothing to do with her being pretty and him being handsome.
YESTERDAY, we learned that love did not appear at the end of a dance.
YESTERDAY, we were taught to wait on love and give it a chance.
But there is much more to learn from YESTERDAY than romantic love.
We don't have to time-tunnel back to YESTERDAY to rise above.
We are to grow and learn from yesterday's history that produced evils,
In order that we will not repeat the atrocities of yesterday's upheavals.
