Lesson From the Badlands

A hilltop covered in yellow and green Reveals secrets long unseen A quiet stillness pierces the air As nature makes clear that she is still there A barren landscape, or so it seems Void of grass or lakes or streams Yet if you listen carefully for the sounds Soon you'll find that life abounds Upon us did nature this treasure bequeath A constant reminder to look just beneath And that if we don't train our eyes The world's splendors will be hidden in plain disguise
