Legislation With a Mind of Its Own
We gave it teeth, now it bites,
We gave it legs, now it kicks.
It was supposed to be fair,
Instead it leaves us in fear.
It should have given us hope,
Instead it treats us like a dope.
It was designed to expedite,
Instead it is looking for a fight.
It was meant to protect,
Now it prefers to reject.
Privacy it should provide,
Not create a big divide.
It looked a pretty solid docket,
Yet now it seems to be in too many a company pocket.
We never gave it the right to publish our information,
That is now all, across the Nation.
Never designed for criminal use,
Always intended to stop abuse.
Instead it now seems to facilitate,
For what we did not legislate.
Who would have thought,
When it first came out,
That it it would so confuse,
That it is halfway up our nose.
This privacy law,
That I want out the door.
