Legend of the Raintree
"Legend of the Raintree"
an ancient legend about the raintree
derived from the old South
a tree shedding golden tears
a promise of length of years
if found ... exclaimed by word of mouth.
young lovers searched to find this tree
buried deep in forest green
whose raindrops melted into the Earth
a treasure chest of enormous worth
only a truthful heart would reveal unseen.
in nightly storms cascades of rain
hypnotized with exotic call
branches without bloom
spelled ominous doom
still the legend lingers as raindrops fall.
