Legacy

People say life’s easier with help from others
Yet no one shows this to be true
I agree to a point, but help comes from friends like brothers
Well not everyone’s got that kind of crew
See I didn't so I went through it alone
I did the work myself, I never backed down
I did more than work; I worked at skills I needed to hone
So that I would soon be the one wearing that crown
I thought the unthinkable, did the impossible, and saw things one could only imagine
I looked at pictures and saw a plan unplanned
Then through work the plan happened
I thought it through and took a stand
Worked through blood, pain, and sweat
And saw things that I’ll never forget
I’m best at being what I made of myself
Look at me and that’s what you’ll see
But if you look at a bunch of pictures of me on the shelf
You’ll see photos, but not the real me
I strived by working alone
So that one day some year
I’d be sitting in that throne
Even though that day and that year are not yet here
They soon will be known
