Legacy

You joined the world alone
Fresh individual
You hadn't made your mark yet
Now look at how you're leaving
They're all flocking
to your bedside.
Look at what you caused
Look at what you have created
From the birth of your first
you changed everything forever.
Now you're scattered
across the Earth
in their crinkly eyes
their sweet teeth
and their smiles.
You've anchored down in all of them
Even as you take the final voyage
You lead a fleet that's made of you
Seemingly alone, you're surrounded
by your family, and wrapped up
in your legacy

What a loving tribute to one who has obviously left a great impression on the world they left behind! Wish we could all leave such a "legacy." Welcome to Poetry Soup! Love, Carolyn
