Leaving Sin Behind

When I read my bible, I seek the hope
Hope that comes from knowing
Love that will teach me how to cope
Coping with the shadows who’re growing

Growing into ghosts I wrestle
Little sins who tell me it’s ok to indulge
Indulge in the darkness, nestle
With the forces that divulge…

What it means to play with the vile
The evil sins, even when they are little
Force the heart to forget its smile
And face the fact that it needs an acquittal

Acquittal from the sin that lets in
The worst of the devil’s devices
Devices like worry, fear and so much sin
That forces the heart to pay high prices

Prices for forgetting the fact of life
Without Jesus’ forgiveness we’re doomed
Doomed to a hell where we’ll know such strife
Strife that assures our soul will be consumed

Consumed by the darkness, the sin and death
All the dark forces that fill us with doubt
Remember… turn to Jesus and with every breath
There is the promise of a love that will shout…

Praise to the Father, praise to the One
Who sought me, so thankful for all that He’s done
He saved me from sin, my soul He won
I’m so very thankful for God’s Only Son
