Leavin' On a Greyhound Bus

He's leavin' on a Greyhound Bus
He's done got tired of us

Unmatched socks lie in the drawer
Loose tobacco on the floor

What did he do when he was here
What about him did we endear

Oh! I remember how he held me close
Changes happen that is the way life goes

Now a quick hug and gran I love you
A few moments and he is through

Engrained in my heart and memory
When he was totally dependent on me

Our grandson has a job with a long haul
trucking company..He leaves tomorrow
for ten weeks of schooling and training
on the job...Yeah!! He finally got a job..

When he returns he will have grown up a little more and his absence makes hearts grow fonder. A loving send off you have written. Hugs

Hi Sara...Nice but sad poem. Not a good feeling when children leave home. Nevertheless, they have to do what they have to do, that's the only way they can grow up.

Oh yes Sara - This is a real heartbreaker but the second line is hilarious and I love the southern red-neck take-off on the Peter, Paul and Mary song... It's obvious that you love him dearly and unconditionally in spite of his faults and that he loves you too...Is this Doris's son? - Tim
