Leaves of August

Leaves of August glisten from the rain
I notice a tinge of color across the ridge
The leaves need moisture to sustain
Leaves of August glisten from the rain
‘Til late mid-October they must remain
Over the ridge, understand, just a smidge
Leaves of August glisten from the rain
I notice a tinge of color across the ridge.

One cannot see it from my house, but I just go to the bottom of the hill and I'm in the riverfront park.
