Leave the World Behind

Take my hand
And let's leave the world behind
Get in the old dusty Ford
And drive until the sun sets
And the moonlight kisses our skin
Just empty stretches of road
Wind whipping your hair
Without a care, wild and free
Not thinking about tomorrow
Nor the tears in our eyes
This boat runs on happy faces
And we'll goofy smile until we make it so
Until we reach the beach
And indulge the soothing sound of waves
Observing a star sprinkled sky
Because every day is like yesterday
But every tomorrow is a chance to be different
But not tonight
Tonight we sit and listen
To the wisdom of the ocean
To the wit of the wind
And to the sonnets of owls
Tonight
Take my hand
And let's leave the world behind

Beautiful writing, Christopher. My favorite is "...every tomorrow is a chance to be different." Always an opportunity to learn new ways. Also, your lines "...the wisdom of the ocean" and "wit of the wind" really spoke to me. Good stuff!!!
