Learning Curve

Familiar hands you came to know so well
They’re kind and warm, a special kind of spell
Your comfort made you blind to all but this
Yet, who’s to blame when ignorance is bliss

Get tossed into a world, face something new
Fear finds its way, you feel a spell turned sour
A storm strikes fast, you see a darker view
But after rain, you’re sure to see a flower

New hands hold up the dreams you see today
While past ones stay to watch and shout, “Hooray!”
You look ahead, embrace the clouds of grey
Hold fast to those that steady when you sway

To trip and fall is just a way to learn
And you’ll find friends at each and every turn
