Learn To Love You

This isn't a love poem, it's more of an appreciation letter
Because I know you're struggling right now, but I hope that some of these words will make it better
You may doubt it, but I know that you can make it through
Most of us see how wonderful you are, but I hope that you learn to love you

You're one of the most amazing people I've had the privilege to know
Beauty and brains but you're a troubled soul
Scars you try to hide, tears that you won't show
I hope that one day you will see your insecurities go

remember how we started talking because we have a similar music taste?
It breaks my heart to see that you're currently in an abusive place
You deserve better, you deserve a man who will make some plans for you
Why did you go back to him after that coward laid his hands on you?

Then he also tells you to not message others, and plays games with your head
I know that 2 wrongs don't make a right, but I want to put him in a hospital bed
I probably shouldn't say that, but you're someone I care deeply about
I just hope that you will see that you deserve better and make your way out

Who am I to say who should and shouldn't be together
But even a blind man could see that you deserve better
You'd be better off being single than being with that abusive control freak
Maybe I should reword some of this, but for you I had to let my soul speak

This isn't a love poem, it's more of an appreciation letter
I know you're struggling right now, but I hope that some of these words can make it better
You may doubt it yourself, but I know that you can make it through
Most of us can see how great you are, but we need you to love you
