Le Vide

A soul, when turned away from counterpart
exists outside the space it occupies;
unsteady hand, immortalize these lines,
erase the doubt that lay upon this heart.
The sentiments appear, but torn apart
from words that seek to banish lonely cries
(such anguish rests in unspoken goodbyes!)
I'm driven equally by care and hurt.

Residing now in somber solitude,
believing it was time to walk away,
I know I'm not but what I saw in you
but cannot look for fear my eyes betray...
(but certain even then you would see through
my darkest of defenses anyway.)
