Lazy Sunday

My body is slow to wake,
My eyes closed to the early morning light,
the house so quiet, the furnace just kicked on.
No where to go, no one to talk to, why get up?

Just the same old day nothing to do, feeling so empty my soul is asleep, birds starting their song, I’ve got nothing left to give.

My circle is gone, ambitions vanished, where are my listeners, readers of my poems? I often feel as if I’m talking to myself, at least I know what to expect, my mom lays to rest, silent graveyard, her soul is in heaven, wish I was too.

Everyone is too busy, no longing to go outside, only the fall wind, sunshine would greet me, God I’m sorry for my words for I know you love me, a third wheel I am feeling deep inside, I saw him briefly Saturday night, a newly crowned sheep he had on his arm, He is doing the Lords work, the Shepard he left, perhaps to follow Him.

Here I am, Jennifer. I'm reading. I'm listening. Two is already a community. ~ Gershon
