Lazy River
it's the end of Summer
so the river level is down.
You can walk straight across it now
with little risk that you'll drown.
Right now it's a lazy river
meandering to the sea
but come the early Spring
a raging river it'll once more be.
In Summer months we swim there
creating memories with friends.
Living our very best lives,
hoping it never ends.
But today as Summer wanes
and Fall is on the way
I'll walk across the river and
enjoy this peaceful day.
I am getting older so
it may be the last time for me
to wander across the river
as it slips out to the sea.
