Last Stop

Arid sky
no clouds
endless drear
	dull

Fevered heat
presses
no relief
	alone!

Silence, thirst
flaccid
horizon
	ice-blue

No zephyr
nor chill
nor idawn-mist
	fore-er
bright sun burns
stifles
steel rails
glint

fiercely, hot
defying
endless
sere

sundered train
one car
approaches
halts

stands alone
shanty station
destination
consternation:

no one there
ever
soul-wrought
silent
screaming
desolation desolation

no

one

there

blistered sun
fades, dies
acid stars
	shine
