Last Moments

voices beckon to me from inside as distant lonely echoes sigh I hear their voices pleading telling me to step back from the precipice of my despair not wanting the end now and I stop haltingly, hesitating to reconsider the value of being opposed to self-sacrifice and selfish lack of concern for those people who would mourn my passing.

" step back from the precipice of my despair" What is going on? Was this written when you had the horrible tooth ache? Hopefully things are better now.

Nope. I'm fine from that now. The subject matter just fit the format so well. I don't think I even realized how it sounded. I'm definitely not suicidal. I love life too much.

Though I hope that the inner voices are not yours Milton, your poem resonates for those who have, even for the slightest second, heard them! Very powerful and well executed!!

No, they are not mine, Mike. This is purely a fictional write. I value life too much to think of taking it like that.

A sombre, poignant poem Milt about the sands of time passing and (your??) inner feelings. Loneliness and loss can certainly eat away inside. I really do think expressing oneself through poetry, art, etc can help. For fear of sounding condescending or flippant (neither I would wish of course) please be kind to yourself. I really enjoy reading your work. Cheers - Gary

Gary, this was purely a fictional write. I thought after I wrote it that some people might think I am suicidal. Well, I'm not. I love and enjoy life too much to do something like that. I do think the theme fit the poetry form rather nicely.
