Notes About The Poem

Last Letter To My Beloved

Oh beloved of mine,

Soon time shall no longer be a companion of ours, as the journey ends, our destination remains unclear. You would always say my words are my gift, so I leave these for you; the love poem, I never quite expressed. I remember my first glance, as you sat all alone. Not a cloud in subtle sapphire horizons, yet your forlorn face, only saw overcast skies, as rain poured through your eyes, onto your somber smile. It was the first day I prayed to God, pleading for a rainbow to brighten your day. But then I wonder if you were the treasure, waiting for me at the end. We became passengers on the pilgrimage of love, composing symphonies our hearts had never felt. Pledges and promises set the foundations of our love story, with chapters of smiles, tears, fears, kisses and near misses. I had never noticed the stars, nor was I ever a poet, till the day my soul inhaled your passionate spirit. How blessed was I, to have shared devoted lyrics. Although the music has ended, our songs breathe for eternity. As I ponder, questioning why, about this and that, things I should have said - things I should have done, but It's too late, as darkness and silence will soon arrive, accompanying deep sighs, lost within empty air. These are my last words for you, my precious diamond, you will always sparkle for me, even after our last goodbye.
Silent One 9 December 2018 A fictional poem. Example for the Last Letter to my Beloved contest.

A beauty and connection such as this is never lost but as wine tastes better with time. The label fades the bottles corked yet the savory moment will erupt when the cork is removed. Such passion so real so complete I understand my dear lost soul. True words must never be left untold. Well done SO. Kelli.

Oh Silent One you broke my heart - our families love and thoughts will be with you on Christmas day. But then I re-read the poem and breathed a sigh of relief - fictional you say, hurray! Festive blessings to you and yours, Jennifer.

Hi Silent, how your words do caress the heart. The words enter the heart so gently and stir the emotions. Your words bring tears from the eyes as your canvas is painted with such gentlilty. This is a farewell that touches so deeply. Your words are pure gold my friend. A fave. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Your friend always....Mike.

This is beyond words wonderful Silent One. The depth of emotion you express cannot be reached by everyone. The words speak love so finely. I want to write for this contest but farewells are something I really, really don't like. Will let that be it maybe.

You are a word maestro, my friend. The entire poem is an exquisite tribute to love, but this part captured me completely: "I had never noticed the stars, nor was I ever a poet, till the day my soul inhaled your passionate spirit" This is a WOW of a poem, Silent One. Have a terrific holiday, my friend.

Is this about death or people departing? You leave it open for people to put their own interpretations. a reason or justification given for an action or belief is entirely up to the reader. Reminds me of a movie 'A Star is Born', in which Lady Gaga sings a beautiful emotional song 'I'll never love again'. Personally I would have preferred that song for this amazing emotional poem of yours, but that's just me. A personal fave Si, as usual you set the bar high....Maria hugs

Ohhhhh...you've done it again, ZZ. The beauty and sadness of this poem hits me down deep where I store those same feelings...and I'm sure many can relate to this one. There is almost always that "one who got away" that is "always on my/our mind". FAVED....
